K2M Continues Facility Expansion
LEESBURG, VA … September 30, 2008 – K2M, Inc., the spinal device company developing innovative and simplified solutions for the treatment of complex spinal pathologies and procedures, today announced the expansion of its facility to include an additional 13,000 square feet of space, 2,500 of which will make up a state of the art conference/training amphitheatre. With this expansion K2M’s facilities will now total 49,000 square feet.
The Leesburg headquarters currently houses corporate staff, a hands-on training lab, production area, and other key operations. The new amphitheatre will provide an area for spinal surgery opinion leaders to collaborate with experienced biomechanical engineers and the K2M product development team. It will also be used for surgeon, employee, sales agent, and international training.
The facility expansion is yet another chapter in K2M’s continued growth. Last year, K2M gained over 7,000 square feet of industrial space in Malvern, Pennsylvania by acquiring Medical Technical Services Inc., a medical device manufacturing company. This facility is now used to make custom instruments to address surgeons’ individual needs.
“With over an acre under roof, this expansion marks another milestone in our ongoing commitment as the world leader for developing technologies to address the most complex spinal pathologies,” stated Eric Major, K2M’s President and CEO. “In addition to the increased office space, the amphitheatre is a key component of our commitment to training, education and innovation related to the spine technology arena.”
